2020 Capital Campaign

Glen Lake Church has a vision and ministry to serve our community and share Jesus's love with them.  We have been blessed with a beautiful facility to assist in that mission.  Just as our homes require upgrades, renewal, and renovation from time to time, so does our church building.  In order to be good stewards of our resources, the Buildings and Grounds team along with the deacons have identified several projects that fall outside of our 2020 budget which will be the focus of our 2020 Capital Campaign.  Our goal is to raise $58,400 in additional restricted contributions by the end of the year.  John DePuy is our Capital Campaign team leader and he or any of the Deacons can answer any specific questions.

Here are the needs that we have identified in order of priority.

Replace Drain Field     $10,000

In the fall of 2019, we had major septic issues.  The company who did the temporary repair indicated that within a year or so we would need to replace the drain field since it is failing.

 

Replace large kitchen appliances

Our most critical need right now is for a new commercial stove ($4,000) in order to accommodate our current ministries such as Community Dinners.  Our current stove is too small.  Our refrigerator and dishwasher are getting old and should they fail will need to be replaced ($5,000 and $4,000 respectively).

 

Replace interior fluorescent lighting      $5,500

In the older part of the church, there are 55 florescent light fixtures that will be replaced with LED lighting.  This will result in significant energy savings and will pay for itself in a short period of time.

Paint Church exterior           $7,000

The older part of the building is in need of the protection and renewal of a new paint job.  There are considerable peeling and fading of the old paint.

 

Refinish front doors          $200

The door requires some new hardware that will be easier to lock and unlock.  Also, the finish on the door will be redone.

 

Replace old windows        $18,700

The older part of the church has the original windows installed years ago.  They are single pane and some of them don’t work any longer.  New windows will be energy efficient and save money in the long run.

 

Replace heating controls in the sanctuary         $1,000

The current controls have been temporarily repaired but will require a new unit soon.

 

Landscaping        $3,000

The MacFarlane Road side of the building needs some additional landscaping to increase the “curb appeal” and create a welcoming entrance to the building.
